Purpose
The Marin Energy Authority is a Joint Powers Authority formed to collectively study, promote, develop and manage energy programs that will address climate change by decreasing energy-related greenhouse gas emissions. The MEA Board will work to secure energy supply and price stability, energy efficiencies and local economic benefits.
Formation and Governance
The JPA agreement was executed on December 19, 2008 and currently includes the following jurisdictions.

The JPA Board consists of one elected representative from each participating jurisdiction.
Activities
The first activity of the MEA Board will be the consideration of a community choice aggregation (CCA) program. Other programs that aid in complying with AB32, the global warming solutions act, will also be considered as appropriate. Activities are detailed in the following timeline.
